My all-time favorite gun shop in Newville has a Remington 700BDL for $199. My dad got his rifle at the local dime store in Newville when I was 10 years old with my paper route money. My dad said his favorite caliber is the 458 Win Magnum he got at a NWTF banquet last season. One issue when shooting the Remington at small steel targets at 70 yards was the 270 JDJ bullet got there too fast.
The best caliber would be the 458 Win Magnum since it was the first rifle I ever owned. I got my Remington 458 Win Magnum at the Wiley Outdoor Sports in Newville. The best shooting caliber for the average hunter I would say the 458 Win Magnum for best caliber and the 270 JDJ for the best cartridge. The best all around caliber I own is probably the 458 Win Magnum from Bass Pro Shops in Newville.
